North Sikkim roadtrip with xuv700| Kolkata to Siliguri | Fastest route in 2023

Описание: The first episode of the epic north sikkim trip on our XUV700 from kolkata. This episode will take us from Kolkata to Siliguri. The journey of around 624kms was covered in 12hrs time. This is the fastest route from Kolkata to Siliguri in 2023 as there are roadworks in progress in the other available routes. We covered this during the night on purpose to avoid all the town traffics enroute to siliguri. The only stretch of the route where we encountered terrific traffic jam was on the Gourango setu where bridge repair work was in progress and that costed us about 1.5hrs. Below is the route details which you need to take from Kolkata to Siliguri to reach faster than any other available route options.

Kolkata - Old Delhi road -- Fantastic city and highway drive (when you merge on to NH16 there is a diversion) Apart from that one or two diversions and ret 4 lane smooth state highway.

Mogra - Krishnanagar - You will get 50 kms of single lane road just after mogra flyover. Road condition is good and it is wide as well. But oncoming traffic might bother a bit. Few places have market areas where you can encounter traffic depending on when you cross these places. Ofcourse Gourango setu is a choke point at night so be prepared to face some traffic.

Krishnanagar - Dalkhola -- Smooth 4 lane National highway. Leave the highway right before Baharampur and take the city route. It will be easier as the highway goes right in the middle of the city and you will face traffic for sure. You will see a diversion there on the highway just take left. Then on, there is no way to avoid Raigunj city as the bypass is not ready. So be careful on the dual carriage road. And if you are unluck you will face traffic at signals. From there on Malda bypass and Dalkhola bypass will take you straight to Dalkhola without any hassles.

Dalkhola to Siliguri -- Smooth 4 lane national highway all the way up to siliguri. You can maintain good speeds but at certain portions you will see some big potholes so be careful. Islampur bypass is a blessing in disguise. Will completely bypass the traffic chokepoint and will take you to Siliguri. Work is in progress on Kishanganj flyover and is not open for traffic now and hence there are traffic diversions from under the flyover. Then on to Siliguri will be a smooth sail.
