How to solve Cape Cod's MAJOR traffic issue

I strongly support the Cape Cod commuter rail proposal outlined in Bill H.4118. Year round passenger rail is the key to reducing traffic on the Bourne and Sagamore bridges as well as for a sustainable future. Having rail would provide an alternative transportation option that is free of traffic and would bypass the future construction of the new canal bridges. Rail is also more environmentally friendly and would decrease CO2 emissions to help meet reduction targets set in our decarbonization roadmap. The addition of passenger rail would have immediate and long term positive effects on the Cape and Massachusetts as a whole.

-Save the Falmouth Secondary Rail Line:
I strongly support the preservation and continued operation of the MassDOT Falmouth Secondary Rail Line in Bourne and Falmouth, MA. This rail line is an essential resource for Cape Cod and Massachusetts that needs to be retained for current and future uses. Rail transportation is the most efficient way to move freight or passengers and is also the answer to reducing traffic on the canal bridges. Without the line, truck traffic will increase on Cape Cod and the option for future passenger service will be eliminated. With commuter rail having a renewed interest on Cape Cod it is even more important to make sure the rails are left in place. Removal of the line would set Cape Cod and Massachusetts back years and would be extremely unfair to Cape residents who want rail. Meanwhile, on the South Coast passenger rail is returning, East West Rail is in the works, and many parts of the State already have passenger rail, but Cape Cod is without regularly scheduled, year round service. Eliminating active rail lines in 2023 only ensures traffic and congestion, something Cape Cod has more than plenty of. A compromise with the trail group can be made by making the path a rail with trail option where the trail runs alongside the rail. Removing the line for a bike path is an extremely shortsighted proposal that will have immediate and long term negative effects on Cape Cod and Massachusetts as a whole.
