India Thailand Joint Military Exercise MAITREE- Update
The Opening Ceremony of the 13th edition of Joint Military Exercise MAITREE was held yesterday at Tak Province in Thailand. Highlights of the event are as under: -
Chief Guest : Thailand side- Lieutenant General Kittipong Jamsuwan, 3rd Corps Commander of Thailand Army. Indian Side- Group Captain Brijesh Paul (Indian Air Force), Defence Attache to Thailand.
Opening remarks by both the representatives which highlighted civilizational & historical connect between both the countries. The guests stressed upon boosting India- Thailand Military collaboration in which Ex MAITREE will play a major role.
Both the sides exchanged mementos .
Handing over of Flag of the Indian Army contingent by the Indian Defence Attache to the 3rd Corps Cdr of Thailand Army for the duration of the exercise.
Interaction by both the representatives with each other's contingent.
Thai Martial Arts display by the troops of Thailand Army.
Ex MAITREE is an annual training event held in India & Thailand alternatively. However, the current edition is being held after a gap of 4 years (12th edition held in Umroi, Meghalaya in 2019) due to Covid- 19 pandemic.
