Here’s a detailed overview of the Jhajra–Asharori Link Road project (also spelled Jhajhra–Asharodi / Asharori Link Road) in Uttarakhand — a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion around Dehradun:
DNP INDIA +2
📌 Overview of the Jhajra–Asharori Link Road Project
🛣️ Project Purpose
The road is being constructed to alleviate traffic congestion in Dehradun city by providing an alternate bypass route.
It will enable vehicles traveling between the Delhi side and Paonta Sahib / Selaqui Industrial Area (and vice-versa) to bypass entry into central Dehradun, thus reducing urban traffic and pollution.
DNP INDIA
📍 Route & Length
The link road will run from Asharori (near the RTO check post) through rural and forested areas to Jhajra, where it connects with the Dehradun–Paonta Sahib Highway.
Total length is approximately 12.17 km.
DNP INDIA
🚗 Road Specifications
It is planned as a new 4-lane road, constructed entirely as a greenfield alignment (i.e., a new route, not widening an existing one).
The road will include bridges and flyovers as needed to improve safety and connectivity.

💰 Project Funding
The Central Government has sanctioned approximately ₹715.97 crore for the project’s development.
This funding support was acknowledged by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who thanked the Government of India and relevant ministries for approval.

📈 Implementation and Contracting
The project is being managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract.
A formal bid/tender had been issued for contractors to undertake the 12.22 km development, with provisions for construction and future maintenance.

🏙️ Why It Matters Locally
🚙 Traffic & Pollution Relief
Once completed, the link road will significantly reduce through-traffic within Dehradun, especially for vehicles destined for Selaqui, Paonta Sahib, Ballupur, or beyond.
This is expected to ease peak congestion and lower pollution in urban areas.

🌾 Land & Environment
The road passes through rural and lightly populated areas, and parts of the alignment involve forest and agricultural land, so land acquisition and clearances are part of the implementation process.

📆 Project Status
Tendering and bidding phases have progressed; implementation and construction timelines depend on contractor appointment and site mobilization under NHAI supervision.
