Welcome everyone to Design Bytes! This is a weekly series where we go over specific instances of game design in a short video format. Pokemon has had some quirky battle mechanics in the past, but one of the big ones was how the games handled the relationship between a move's type and its damage output. This video aims to understand why the physical and special split from Diamond and Pearl was a great decision and why it needed to happen.
