The word ‘Shiva’ means one who enlightens and bestows benevolence. He is also known as ‘Shankar’. This Principle of God is considered the Father of the Universe and this Divine Principle responds easily when worshipped with devotion. Deity Shiva is also the Principle of God associated with the dissolution of the Universe. Om Namah Shivaya is a very powerful mantra (chant).

Chanting the Shiva mantra (chant) – ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ helps to gain a lot of positive spiritual energy. It helps in meditation and provides protection from negative energies.

The way a chant is chanted is very important. For this reason, in this video, the Shiva mantra (chant) is chanted according to spiritual science, with the intonation, sound and pace which give maximum Divine consciousness and positive energy.

Some people have devotion towards a particular Deity, for example, Deity Shiva, so chanting that particular Deity’s Name – such as the Shiva mantra (chant) Om Namah Shivaya, helps to evoke spiritual emotion and one can get different spiritual experiences associated with that Deity.

Since chants are associated with different Deities, they help to bestow positive energy and provide spiritual protection. However, to progress spiritually one needs to perform the correct spiritual practice as per spiritual science or get the guidance of a true Guru (Spiritual master). To begin with, one can chant the Name of God as per the religion of his or her birth or Om Namo Bhagawate Vasudevaya (because as per spiritual science, the Shri Krishna Principle is active in the present times).
