R/C Messerschmitt Bf109 Landings - trying to get a good one

Radio control Bf109 in 400mm wingspan. I did get a few smooth landings but I am trying to get one where it doesn't tip on its nose and the prop stays on. At least I am consistent in my landing area.
I think the lack of weight in the model means there is no momentum to keep the speed up and glide the last few feet, so the model loses lift as I throttle off just 2 or 3 feet from the ground, then tends to nose plant. If I keep the throttle up the prop can easily hit the ground and smash or fly off, so throttling down helps it survive.
My Mustang glides better and therefore would be better I think for wheeled landings but I do not have wheels fitted to those.
On my flight sim using larger models throttling off just before landing seems to turn out ok.
