The Tiger of Jiangdong | Wo Long - Sun Jian (No Heals/Guard)

Описание: My new favorite demon fight in the game so far!🔥 Sun Jian is one of those bosses who may not have the most mechanical depth but is quite an enjoyable fight regardless. He’s not particularly difficult and his moveset is pretty straightforward but his attacks, while not necessarily “rhythmic” are snappy and satisfying to parry. I think part of this was leaning into the defensive playstyle with the charged Longsword parries. He has a lot of openings I could’ve capitalized on but something about charging up an attack as he’s about to pounce or do his backflip tail sweep felt pretty badass and was a different kind of satisfying than parrying Lu Bu’s spinning combo. Outside of the travesty that was Taotie I think Wo Long has gone a good job with making beast/demonic bosses fun to fight so I’m very pleased with that!

I’d say my only gripes with this boss are the delays on his lunges and the minor mixups in his swipe combos, though this is easily manageable with practice. I also feel like his moveset is a bit TOO simple and I wish he had a bigger movepool because his core moveset is very solid. I’m glad I was able to get his multi hit spin in this attempt too as this felt like a rarer attack he’d use and it’s easily the most satisfying to parry. Overall while I did have Sun Jian in low A tier at first I think due to a lack of moveset depth he’s better in B+ tier. This doesnt contribute to my ranking but I also gotta say has a really badass design with a pretty banger OST, my favorite alongside Lu Bu’s.

Also decided not to post Taotie either because it’s a slogfest of a fight. The entire fight basically revolves around parrying projectiles, many of which come from offscreen and it’s not engaging at all. Unfortunately another D tier boss and a pretty disappointing follow up to Lu Bu, but at least Sun Jian makes up for it.
