My Favorite Red River Papers (May 2020)

Printing has been occupying my time while outdoor activities have been limited. Having time on my hands means experimenting with a few paper stocks.

Favorite all-around paper: PECOS RIVER
Crisp details
Deep shadows
Works for both color and black & whites
A glossy paper, so expect reflections and glare from some viewing angles

Favorite black & white paper: 68lb ULTRA PRO SATIN 4.0
Museum or gallery type of feel, a “traditional” photo
Low glare, clean viewing from almost any angle
Color prints have slightly less punch (compared to Pecos River)

Alternative paper: POLAR GLOSS METALLIC 255
Good for photos that would look good on metal
Colors are rich and powerful. B&W can skew a little toward unreal.
I prefer for color photos with limited highlights
A glossy paper, so expect reflections and glare from some viewing angles
