Weekend trip to Shanty Boat Island- Part One

Sit back and watch as we leave Birdsong and travel south on the Tennessee River to the narrow Eagle Creek where Shanty Boat Island is located. the Island is uniquely located in shallow water making it accessible only to shallow drafters or other small watercraft. This Island, like many others in the Tennessee River / Kentucky Lake, are seasonal islands that are often flooded and inaccessible during the higher waters of the summer pool. These conditions make the Shanty Boat Island the perfect secluded getaway.
