Our vision is a world free of extreme poverty and chronic hunger where people have the means to sustain their families. Our mission is to equip people living in extreme poverty with the resources to create sustainable businesses.

Eliminating the unnecessary suffering caused by extreme poverty is one of the most important global challenges of the 21st century. In the past 24 years, Village Enterprise has successfully equipped people living in extreme poverty with the resources to create sustainable, income-generating businesses. By providing start-up capital, business training, and mentoring to small business groups along with organizing business groups into larger savings groups, Village Enterprise provides people living in rural East Africa with the necessary tools to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.

The Village Enterprise approach is sustainable. Our small businesses generate income for daily needs, while the savings groups ensure that some of that income is set aside for future needs, thus ensuring better nutrition, improved health, increased education for children, higher-quality housing, individual empowerment and a sense of hope now and in the future.
