Badlands Western Short Film

Описание: Filmed for Iowa State Graphic Design's Capstone Project, Spring semester 2020.
I've always had an interest in film, so I decided to "give it a go", we had 5 months to work on whatever area of design we chose. In the first month, I watched over 30 westerns, modern and classic. Took note of their cuts, sound effects, framing, aspect ratios, color grading, screenplays, and wardrobe. Then, I wrote the screenplay based on the historical context of the "Deadwood Gold Rush" in the mid-1800s, combined with the folk song "Desperado" by the Eagles (always been a favorite). I collected, borrowed, and made props. My cast & crew (boyfriend & brother) made the drive out to the Badlands in late February to film in one weekend!

With that being said, a huge thank you to my brother Drew for coming out to help film, nail down my storyline, and participate in a flashback, AND to my boyfriend Chase for playing my lead role, for spending his weekend on the road and getting orders barked to him for 2 days straight.

I hope you enjoy, it's been a labor of love, and I have learned so much about the film industry, everything that goes into making a motion picture– wooooofta!
