So basically, after barely making it through the Hai Van Pass alive, we ended up in Hue, an extremely significant city in Vietnam’s nuanced history. After succumbing to the heat, Isaac Joe and I trained our way up to one of the places I was most excited for... Phong Nha National Park.

Although it's famous for its cave exploring, nothing beats the freedom we experienced going across the rickety old suspension bridges and exploring random villages.

Next, we made our way 9 hours north via bus to the holy grail that is Ninh Binh. Now we were hoping that Ninh Binh would live up to our expectations, and though it did, it was definitely a more manicured experience in comparison to Phong Nha. Though in saying that, the views, temples, and nightlife did manage to keep it up there in the upper echelons of places we'd visited thus far.
