I messed up! | VAN LIFE Solo Female

Описание: Blaze and I were having a great time exploring the area near Bryce Canyon National Park when I realized that I desperately needed an oil change (plus, a handful of other chores).

So, we set off to find the nearest quick lube. But unfortunately, it was 1.5 hours away in the opposite direction that I wanted to drive. Not unlike any other day of van life, I had decision fatigue — do I suck it up and drive in the opposite direction for an oil change, or do I buy a quart of oil and drive the direction that I want to go, even though it's more rural and doesn't have any quick lube locations. I also need gas, water, groceries, and to do laundry. Plus, it's supposed to snow ❄️ !!!

After much consideration, I decided to take the safe route and get the oil change. We stopped briefly at Mammoth Cave Lava Tubes to see if we could do some minor canyoneering. But I forgot my headlamp and didn't feel safe exploring by myself, so we just hiked around the grounds.

But then, we hit a major roadblock while driving to our campsite for the night.

I got the van stuck in a 1.5-foot snow drift 😱 I spent three hours feverishly trying to shovel my way out of a sticky situation. But I was not successful! Luckily, Ford Roadside Assistance was willing to drive 1.5 hours both ways to tow the van out of the snow drift. Phew, that was a close call! 😥
