A Mexican Navy medical aircraft carrying a pediatric patient crashed into the water near Galveston, Texas, according to preliminary reports. Eight people are believed to have been on board.
The crash occurred as the aircraft was approaching Scholes International Airport in Galveston amid heavy fog, according to information reported by local officials and cited by the Galveston County Daily News. Authorities said the plane went down west of the causeway while on final approach for landing.
The aircraft was identified as a Mexican Navy Beech King Air 350i with the call sign ANX1209, according to FlightRadar24. The plane had departed from Merida in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and was conducting a medical transport flight.
