Note State House Representative Dominque Jackson (Democrat) resigned in December of 2021. Therefore, according to Colorado state law, Democratic Party Precinct Organizers / Precinct Committee Persons and elected Democratic Party officials within the district were responsible for filling the interim vacancy before the November 2022 election.

All 5 candidates - Gail Pough, Mandy Lindsay, Eric Nelson, Debbi Hunter-Holen and Kyle Leggott have filed to run for the November 2022 election, but they have to get past the caucus and/or signatures needed to be on the primary ballot. The candidates can choose to either do signatures - 1,000, or caucus, which requires 30% of delegate support. . The candidates may also choose to take both the caucus and signature routes. If the candidate obtains the necessary 1,000 signatures then a 10% threshold is required at the county assembly. The timeframe for collecting signatures is January 18th - March 15th.
