FIU Compliance Requirements for NGOs | NANGO Talk To Your Regulator Initiative Launch

Описание: In October 2024, the National Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (NANGO) officially launched the Talk To Your Regulator (T2R) Initiative during the 13th NGO Directors Summer Retreat held at Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga.

As part of the launch, Mr. Tichafa Chigaba, Deputy Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Zimbabwe, delivered a presentation on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance requirements for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) in line with the global Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations.

The presentation covers:
✔ NPO compliance obligations under AML/CFT frameworks
✔ Common compliance gaps within the non-profit sector
✔ Measures being undertaken by the FIU to strengthen engagement with NPOs
✔ Enhancing regulatory compliance and accountability in civil society
✔ Building constructive dialogue between regulators and the NGO sector

The Talk To Your Regulator Initiative seeks to strengthen collaboration between civil society organisations and regulatory authorities through information sharing, dialogue, and improved understanding of regulatory requirements.
