Russian President Vladimir Putin said he has not ruled out a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy but questioned whether such talks would be meaningful.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Putin claimed Zelenskyy’s presidential term has expired with “no means of extending it,” once again casting doubt on his legitimacy without elections.
“I’ve never excluded the possibility of meeting with him. But does it make sense to meet with him?” Putin asked. “So does it make sense to meet with the current administration? We could do that; I’ve never refused to do that if that leads to some positive outcomes.”
Putin added that U.S. President Donald Trump had asked about the possibility of talks with Zelenskyy. “I said yes, it was possible, let him come to Moscow,” he said.
