Form and Content | A Sermon on Crucified Love and Faithful Witness
In this sermon, “Form and Content,” Rev. Anna Dickson reflects on how the way we share the gospel must match the heart of the gospel itself.
Drawing on Exodus 4:10–16 and 1 Corinthians 2:1–12, this message explores Paul’s decision to proclaim Christ not through polished speech or displays of power, but through humility, vulnerability, and trust in the Spirit. At the center of the sermon is the conviction that the good news of Jesus Christ is the good news of a crucified love—and that only love can truly carry that message.
This sermon invites us to consider:
how God’s power is revealed in weakness
why the form of our witness matters as much as its content
what it looks like to embody the love we proclaim
and how the church can offer a credible and hopeful word in a weary and divided world
Preached by Rev. Anna R. Dickson on February 8, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, on the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany.
Scripture readings for this service are Exodus 4:10–16 and 1 Corinthians 2:1–12.
Whether you are part of our church community or joining us online, we pray this message encourages you to trust the Spirit’s work and to bear witness to Christ through lives shaped by love.
