Rocks By Rail Living Ironstone Museum visit or Rutland Railway museum is a small railway museum in Rutland and just above Rutland water about 10-15 minute drive away (rough estimate) located on a section of the once Oxfordshire ironstone company railway and the railway part of the midland mainline mineral branch now closed or the Oxfordshire ironstone railway it’s known as specifically (OIR) . It’s a railway museum that runs brake van rides, train cab rides and running ironstone quarry machinery which on today’s visit were running but everyone was on lunch break when I filmed this video so it wasn’t though brake van rides were also running which I did ride on which is about 0.5 mile in length going from station to the end of the line the back to the station in 5-7 minutes. On today’s running day sentinel diesel locomotives were being used plus one break van in which the brake van was being pulled by a sentinel being S-10207 Graham. Also in the video is the Museum with static locomotive displays, the workshop, the Quarry area and the models inside the Sundrew cafe and outdoor displays. There were also Example freight trains running also using sentinels coming to and from the quarry but they started their lunch break during the break van ride so no videos of them running unfortunately

At the Quarry you could stop by at the viewing platform along the train to the quarry and diggers shown at timestamp 15:23 at the quarry there’s a Ruston dragline Excavator and Ruston face shovel (both called RB22) and quarry wagons and other displays not necessarily shown in video including a truck named Euclid, a Cole’s crane, Cat loader, JCB digger and Matpro loader plus listed structures such is cab sections from RB 110 and W1400 draglines, wagon checking platform, Quarry weigh bridge office, Iron ore tipping deck and LMS lamp hut the woolsthorpe shed the steam locomotive belvior.
