In remembrance of the immense work and contribution made by the master architect Le Corbusier and in the 50th year of his death anniversary, the Embassy of Switzerland in India in collaboration with Architecture + Design, organized ‘Design Dialogues’ at the Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi in October 2015. The dialogues focused on the contemporary topic “The journey continues from Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh to future smart habitat”.
H.E. Dr. Linus von Castelmur, ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, graced the occasion with an inspiring opening address. He expressed that such events aimed at initiating and enhancing collaborations between India and Switzerland by reaching out to architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, builders, artists, scholars, students as well as the general audience.

Discussing about the city of Chandigarh, architect Rahul Mehrotra said, “Chandigarh was an incredible experiment, it was a symbol of modernity. It was about individual freedom within the welfare state, kind of socialist state with an amazing sort of aspiration.
Prof Alfredo Brillembourg, chair of Architecture and Urban Design at the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, was the moderator for the dialogue on the theme between Curtis and reputed architect Rahul Mehrotra. They also made some very constructive presentations that addressed the important approach to city planning. One of the highlights of the event was the invigorating dialogue between Curtis and Mehrotra, moderated by Prof Brillembourg.
