48 Hours in George Town, Malaysia | Jetties, Street Art & Food

Our first time in George Town, Penang, kicked off amazingly. We wandered the historic streets, sampled delicious local food, and hopped on the free CAT bus to check out the famous Clan Jetties on the waterfront. Just as we were enjoying the views, a huge thunderstorm hit, and we ended up walking 30 minutes back to our accommodation completely soaked! 🌧️

George Town really lives up to its title as Malaysia's street art capital. We followed the famous trail and found so many incredible murals, from hidden gems to massive masterpieces. We lost count of how many we spotted! 🎨

We stayed fuelled with tasty bamboo noodles and some of the best kaya buns we've had in Malaysia. The biggest surprise came at the end: after reaching the Brother & Sister on Swing mural, we stumbled into a vegan café called Susu. We had a great chat with (we think) the owner, who introduced us to Kenji Chai (aka Chaigo), one of Malaysia's most famous street artists.

The mix of stunning murals, amazing food, and super friendly locals made this a small but unforgettable day in Penang. Although our time was short, our first impressions of George Town is it's an amazing experience not to be missed!
