Paul Doyle, who drove his car into a crowd of Liverpool FC fans as they celebrated their team’s Premier League victory at a parade in the city centre in May, will be sentenced for 31 charges including GBH with intent and dangerous driving.
Doyle, 54, ploughed through more than 100 people celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title win on May 26. Fifty casualties required hospital treatment.
He pleaded guilty to 31 charges including dangerous driving, affray, 17 charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, nine counts of causing GBH with intent and three counts of wounding with intent, last month.
The charges relate to 29 victims aged between six months and 77 years. Doyle will find out how long he will spend behind bars on Tuesday.
On Monday, during the first day of the sentencing hearing, footage of the horrific rampage was shown to the city’s crown court. The court was told the 54-year-old was “in a rage” and his 'anger had completely taken hold of him'.
