Why is it interesting?
The Day of the Ukrainian Political Prisoner marked on January 12 was an initiative brought in by Vyacheslav Chornovil in 1975 to counteract the crackdown and cruelty of the Soviet regime. Almost 50 years later, Russia is pursuing the same policy towards Ukrainians who openly express their thoughts and ideas and stand their ground, turning it into a criminal offense.


During the event, experts will talk about how the practice of political persecution has changed in Crimea, Donbas, and later in the territories occupied after February 24, 2022.
