After many attempts, I finally defeated Trema with Zantetsu. Zantetsu is the deadliest attack in the game, inflicting Death status and bypassing Death immunity, but its chance of working on a superboss like Trema is extremely low.
Zantetsu success rate is affected by 3 values:
• Your Level
• Enemy's Level
• Enemy's Zantetsu Resistance [0-255]
Bosses and superbosses like Paragon, Jumbo Cactuar, Machina Panzer, Angra Mainyu, Trema, Vegnagun, Shuyin, Almighty Shinra, and Major Numerus have a Zantetsu resistance of 255.
The probability of killing one of these bosses at level 99 (Trema, Major Numerus, Almighty Shinra, and Paragon) with Zantetsu is only 1/1024 (0.09%) if your character is at level 98-99; otherwise, the probability is 0%. For Major Numerus, you'd need to land Zantetsu four times, as it has four heads—so that's not happening xD.
