Was I maybe a bit uncharacteristically gleeful for the suffering of others? Maybe. But after a full season of gloating about how the dynasty is back and Drake Maye is the Bills' daddy and whatever else nonsense was getting spouted, I was pretty darn happy to watch the 28 Days Later zombies that make up the Seahawks defense swarm that team and out some serious BTA.

I like Drake Maye, I really do. But the fans and the media did the kid a disservice by crowning him an elite quarterback prematurely, and the cracks showed throughout the playoffs, never more than on Sunday night. Sam Darnold is a very good, very solid quarterback who doesn't do anything showy but proved to be the perfect man for the occasion. His stat line doesn't tell the story -- that man escaped multiple sacks by the Patriots defense, knew when to throw the ball away, made great passes in clutch moments, and even had a great scramble to keep a drive alive. He played like a quarterback with nearly a decade of experience in this league. Experience counts.

Also Mike Macdonald is adorable and the rest of the league should be shaking in their boots at how good and inventive he is this early in his career. The Seahawks might stay scary. Good luck, NFC West.
