Описание: In this edition of HoCoPoLitSo’s The Writing Life, Michael Collier, Elizabeth Spires, and David Yezzi read their work and talk about the ordinary moments that begin in wonder and end in extraordinary poetry. The three Baltimore-Washington area poets, who each published new books in 2018, talk about memory, laughter, Prince, and chihuahuas. Spires begins the program by reading the title poem from her new book, A Memory of the Future. Yezzi reads “Dying the Day Prince Died,” from his book Black Sea. Then Michael Collier reads a follow-up elegy, “Last Morning with Steve Orlen,” from his book My Bishop and Other Poems. Spires reads a poem from an opposite point of life, “They Drive Through Childhood in Their Little Cars.” Yezzi reads “Night Blind.” And Collier ends the program by reading “Boom Boom.” Recorded October 26, 2018.
