However, just as Salt is about to leave, he learns that Noreen Wilks, a vulnerable young woman who urgently requires a life-saving drug, has mysteriously disappeared. Haunted by a sense of moral responsibility, Salt postpones his departure and begins to investigate her disappearance himself.

As he retraces her last known movements, Salt encounters the hidden loneliness, desperation, and quiet cruelty that lie beneath the surface of everyday respectability. What begins as a practical inquiry becomes a moral reckoning, forcing Salt to confront whether a man can ever truly walk away from the lives he has touched.
