Elliot is the lead vocalist of the Mamas & the Papas and is known as the "Queen of Soul Music" with her powerful, emotional voice and unique performance style. However, due to internal inconsistency, the group disbanded in 1968 and Elliot began a solo career.

Elliot's solo career also achieved much success with albums such as "Cass Elliot" (1972) and "The Road to Po Poya" (1973). She also acted in several films such as "The Graduate" (1967) and "Bull Durham" (1988).
