Mirror polished cubes made out of 99.95% pure ruthenium metal from Luciteria
One of the rarest of precious metals with only 30 tonnes mined a year. Much rarer than gold, but the price is much lower than other platinum group metals and gold.
Where does Ru come from? It is recovered from the mining of other platinum group metals and from the mining of copper and nickel.
What is Ru used for? Mostly to harden electrical contacts, thick-film chip resistors, to make superalloys often used in jet engines, and to harden platinum and palladium jewelry.
