Join us on our first trip to Lake Naivasha, Kenya. A wonderful area where the adventure awaits!

While there, we stayed at the Sopa Lodge Lake Naivasha. We paid Ksh19,000 per night per couple sharing full board (approx. $173 USD). And I have to say, this Lodge was amazing! Much better than what you see online. Great location, nice view of Lake Naivasha, good food and very nice lounge.

Crescent Island, what a unique place to visit. Back in the mid 1980's a big Hollywood production filmed the movie ''Out of Africa'' mainly on that particular Island in Kenya, Africa. For the purpose of the movie, they brought a large amount of animals including lions, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and more to the island. When the movie production was completed, they brought back the lions to the main land but left the rest of the animals on Crescent Island in the middle of Lake Naivasha without any way of leaving and no one have thought of them since the ''Out of Africa'' movie release in December 1985.

Even if this sounds a little sad, those animals are thriving today on the island where they have virtually no predators. (The lion where brought back you remember!) Crescent Island is now a protected island and sanctuary for the animals and a wonderful place to visit for a walking safari.
