Is your toddler curious about private parts? Did your curious toddler touch your genitals and it caught you off guard? How should you respond? What should you say?
It is important to remember as adults and parents that children do not have preconceived ideas about sexuality. They are seeing something that they don't understand and are curious to know what it is. Teaching them that they have bodily autonomy and that you also have bodily autonomy from an early age can lay a foundation to the sex talks around consent language and bodily autonomy.
In today's video I answer these questions and challenge you to set a bodily boundary with your child. Using consent language and setting bodily boundaries from an early age can help your toddler to understand that they have bodily autonomy and so do you! It helps them to grasp the idea that there are social norms around touching other people's bodies and that they cannot just touch other people's body parts and that nobody can touch their own body.
