Another test. Both sets of strings were given to me for nothing. So not biased either way by that.
La Bella strings are brighter, and quieter, and lower tension, less stable in tuning on this banjo. I prefer Red Series in every way, louder, richer sounding and now brighter than they used to be. Except.... the Unwound 4th is too thick and almost didn't make it through the holes in the tailpiece and in the tuners. Red series are available with wound 4th. That's what I'll buy next time.
Aquila = paper packet, thin plastic inner pouches.
La Bella = plastic packet, plastic inner pouches, little plastic dice to indicate which string is which.
Aquila wins environmentally, bioplastic aside. Plus Aquila are made in Europe. Shop local!
