Sunday, January 11 - Ambassadors for Christ

Описание: This Sunday we recognize the Baptism of Christ and are invited to remember our baptism and pledge to live in those promises and live out the invitation to be Christ's hands and feet in the world! Jesus did this to "fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15) and in Christ we are "becoming the righteousness of God." (2 Cor 5:21)

In the sermon today, Pastor Andy reminds us that according to Paul in 2 Corinthians, we as followers of Jesus are invited to bear the title and the role of Ambassadors for Christ! This isn't necessarily easy, but it is part of the story of God. We trace that invitation back through Peter's interaction with Cornelius in Acts 10, the baptism of Jesus and all the way back to Isaiah's prophecy in Isaiah 42:1-4

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will bring justice to the nations...
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
He will not falter or be discouraged
till he establishes justice on earth.
In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”

Because we are united to Jesus the Messiah through his baptism and ours, we are united to this promise in Isaiah. It guides our mission as a church and as Ambassadors for Christ!
