Robert Pickering "Bo" Burnham (born August 21, 1990) is an American comedian, musician, actor, film director, screenwriter, and poet. He began his career on YouTube in 2006, where his videos gained popularity. By January 2008, he had signed a four-year record deal with Comedy Central Records and released his debut EP, "Bo Fo Sho". His first full-length album, "Bo Burnham", was released the following year. In 2010, Burnham's second album was released, and Words Words Words, his first live comedy special, aired on Comedy Central.

Burnham also wrote, directed, and starred in the MTV series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous and released his first book of poetry, Egghead: Or, You Can't Survive on Ideas Alone, in 2013. His first feature film as writer and director, Eighth Grade, was released in July 2018 to widespread critical acclaim.

In terms of his personal life, Burnham was born in Hamilton, Massachusetts, the youngest of three children. He was involved in theatre and the campus ministry at St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts. He was accepted into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts to study Experimental Theatre but instead deferred his admission for a year to pursue a career in comedy.

"Bo Burnham: Inside" is a musical comedy special written, directed, filmed, edited, and performed by Bo Burnham. It was created in the guest house of Burnham's Los Angeles home during the COVID-19 pandemic without a crew or audience. The special features a variety of songs and sketches about his day-to-day life indoors, depicting Burnham's deteriorating mental health, exploring themes of performativity and his relationship to the internet and the audience it helped him reach.

The song "Sexting" is a part of this special. Burnham sings about sexting in a song of the same name before parodying a YouTuber's "thank you" video while holding a knife. The song is a humorous take on the awkwardness and absurdity of sexting, with Burnham performing in various states of undress and using exaggerated facial expressions and body language to add to the comedy.
