In this highly complex machine vision system Industrial Vision Systems Ltd have designed and built a machine with three high resolution digital cameras and two linescan digital cameras (one color, one mono), combined with multiple LED lighting arrangements to provide inspection of 96 medical device wells inspected in 4 inspection zones with a cycle time of 96 parts every 3 seconds. Therefore providing 100% inspection of 32 parts every second (1,920 parts per minute).

The vision system is designed for high precision color verification, contamination inspection and surface inspection. The machine is a stainless steel structure including an internal servo controlled walking beam unit to allow the trays to be passed to each inspection position in sequence. The machine also includes 3 pick and place units to bring the products on and off the inspection system and to allow automated reject of bad wells.

The complete vision system check routines were developed in the standard IVS software interface with the process views and control panel views using standard graphical elements.
