For several generations, there were blood relatives in Brooklyn who shared an uncanny pattern of getting murdered - The Varriales. When Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend were at the height of mob activity and violence in the 1980s, the Varriale name kept appearing in news stories of violence. Several Varriale men were mob connected and found themselves just a few degrees separated from such notorious organized crime figures like Anthony Gaspipe Casso, The Mafia Cops and Greg Scarpa.
When Lucchese made man Carmine Varriale was killed in 1987 he was the last of The Varriales to be gunned down on the streets of Brooklyn. That same year his half brother Patty Bulldog, who was a mob associate, was also shot dead. A few years earlier Patty Bulldog’s cousins, infamous brothers Pat & Albie Varriale, were both gunned down as was their father Albert in 1975. Their history of bloodshed continues all the way back to the early 20th century.
