Marker Wadden: How the Netherlands Built New Land for Wildlife (Documentary, 2021)

Описание: Through their mastery of water, the Dutch created land from areas of sea by use of waterworks and dykes. Immense mega-structures were built to protect the land from the water, large parts of which are below sea level. These measures were unkind to natural biodiversity and were built for the benefit of human beings. Five years ago a hugely ambitious project began its gradual journey towards completion. The construction of a unique archipelago started, deliberately fashioned for the benefit of nature. In 2021 the Marker Wadden project was completed. This blue chip wildlife film shows the development of the islands and how nature starts to take over from the moment the first land appears. Now already over 650 plant and animal species are found on the islands and the abundance of birdlife is beyond believe. With stunning footage, the development of nature is presented and the film shows how the map of The Netherlands was changed to successfully increase biodiversity. This is a first for the world!
