The Vibrant Villages Programme-II was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Assam’s Cachar district to promote comprehensive border area development. With an outlay of over ₹6800 crore up to FY 2028-29, the scheme will be implemented in 15 States and 2 Union Territories through a saturation-based approach. It aims to boost border security, curb cross-border crimes, and strengthen local participation in national security. The Home Minister also visited the BSF Natunpur border outpost, reviewed border fencing progress, addressed a BJP rally in Barak Valley, and will attend the CRPF annual day parade in Guwahati while laying the foundation stone for the 10th Assam Police Battalion campus.
