The flu paid an unwelcome visit the last few days. Here’s what I used to get back on track and On the Mend :
One minute, I’m planning drinks and business dates and just like that.. a nasty 3 day virus paid me a visit.
3 a.m. fever aches and pains and you think …. ‘ Is this… am I ?….oh no….’
The next 48 hours were really mean.
Here’s what I did to find relief:
I took lots of salt baths: Just laying in the water, floating with my head submerged was one of the only things I could do to reduce the fever and inflammation. I can’t say this enough: Using On the Mend as a combo scrub/bath soak is one of the best ways to soothe colds and flu symptoms for several reasons:
1.The essentials oils such as lemongrass, peppermint, eucalyptus , lavender and vetiver all soothing to the senses while providing antibacterial, antiviral properties to combat symptoms.
2. The salt helps to naturally thin mucous, clear congestion and replace trace minerals.
Take a handful and work into the head, neck and chest before settling into the bath. The lemongrass, peppermint oil, and eucalyptus aromatherapy is so soothing but the work of the minerals, salts and CBD is what really makes it effective for flu recovery.
Also, sitting in the warm bath with essential oils and steam can help keep lungs and nasal passages clear. The heat can also promote gentle sweating which can help release toxins and support lymphatic health.
I drank a LOT of liquids. Pho, Bone Broth, Chamomile Tea , peppermint tea, ginger drinks, green juices, smoothies, and water. Staying hydrated is critical to help assist the body in removing toxins and sending important nutrients to the right channels…. And for headaches… a lot of headache pain can be caused by dehydration.
I used a boat load of Frosted peppermint oil
1. To clear head congestion and headache pain
2. To ease the ribcage and back pain from violently coughing.
After a bath, I would apply Frosted all over my chest and then place a weighted, heated pad over my chest. The heat make it feel ‘Icy Hot’ and helped ease coughing.
I added supplements: Oil of Oregano
Vitamin C - EmergenC
Turkey Tail Mushrooms
Wyld Indica gummies
Ibuprofen
I rested and watched what I consumed online: Virus is funny. It seems to take over your body AND mind. I got super sad and depressed but luckily knew it was the ‘ick that was making me sad. I stayed off social media and opted my Elvis movies instead. Scenery, singing, dancing… what’s not to like?
Please note, this is not intended to be medical advice, just a personal recount of what I did for myself.
