Control is a third-person action-adventure video game created by Finnish game studio Remedy Entertainment. The game revolves around the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secret U.S. government agency tasked with containing and studying paranatural phenomena. As Jesse Faden, the Bureau's newest Director, players explore the Oldest House - the FBC's paranatural New York headquarters - and utilize powerful abilities in order to defeat a deadly enemy known only as the Hiss. Released in 2019, It is the first entry in Remedy Entertainment's Control franchise, and is part of the wider Remedy Connected Universe.

Old Boys’ Club:

Jesse travels to the Research Sector to locate Helen Marshall, navigating increasingly dangerous Hiss forces and the warped experimental spaces of Parapsychology. To reach her, Jesse solves the Astral Spike containment puzzle, trapping the volatile entity and restoring access deeper into the sector before finally speaking with Marshall in Luck & Probability. Marshall tasks Jesse with restoring Dr. Casper Darling’s HRA Lab, where Jesse learns more about the Hedron Resonance Amplifier, a device critical to protecting the Bureau from the Hiss. After solving the punch card puzzle and reactivating the HRA Machine, Jesse stabilizes Research operations and is granted Clearance Level 4, pushing her closer to the truth behind the Hiss and Darling’s disappearance.

Threshold:

Jesse returns to the Maintenance Sector to secure more Black Rock Prisms, a rare material essential for constructing Hedron Resonance Amplifiers (HRAs) capable of resisting the Hiss. Her path is blocked by industrial hazards and shifting thresholds, forcing her to solve the Turbine puzzle and once again navigate the surreal logic of the Oceanview Motel, where reality rearranges itself through ritual and symmetry. After pushing deeper into Black Rock Processing, Jesse works with Security Chief Arish and defeats a powerful Hiss Distorted entity guarding Dr. Darling’s research. Gaining Clearance Level 5, Jesse descends into the Black Rock Quarry, activates explosives to excavate the prism, and narrowly escapes hostile astral entities before reporting back to Helen Marshall, advancing the Bureau’s fight against the Hiss.

My Brother’s Keeper:

Jesse travels from Central Executive into the Containment Sector in search of her brother Dylan Faden, earning the Hotline: Panopticon collectible as she enters Bureau territory dedicated to the most dangerous Altered Items and Objects of Power. Fighting through Logistics, the Medical Wing, and the Security Center, she navigates mold-infested corridors, escalating Hiss resistance, and an Oceanview Motel puzzle that reshapes reality through ritualized symbolism. After meeting the Panopticon Supervisor, Jesse subdues the Benicoff TV Object of Power on the 4th floor, defeating Salvador, whose corrupted form guards the Altered Item and reinforces the Bureau’s moral ambiguity. Cleansing the TV grants Jesse the Levitate ability during an Astral Plane trial, allowing her to reach the 5th-floor maximum security level, where she finally locates where Dylan should be imprisoned in the P6 Cell, concluding the mission with a pivotal story cutscene.
