Auditory Processing Explained -Word of the Week
In this video, I explain auditory processing as part of my Word of the Week series.
Auditory processing is about how the brain takes in, organises, and makes sense of sound. For many neurodivergent people, difficulties with auditory processing can make everyday environments feel overwhelming, confusing, or exhausting, especially when there is background noise, lots of verbal information, or time pressure.
In this video, I cover:
• what auditory processing is
• how auditory processing differences can affect children and adults
• why listening is not the same as hearing
• how auditory processing difficulties are often misunderstood
• practical ways we can reduce auditory load and offer support
