Rising to about 2,797 metres, Tahurangi is the mountain’s highest summit. Ruapehu is known for its dramatic volcanic landscape, crater lake, glaciers, and frequent volcanic activity, and it is also a major centre for skiing, hiking, and alpine recreation.
