At this year’s event, each of the 170 entering medical students were formally welcomed and cloaked with a white coat sponsored by a member University of Michigan Medical Center Alumni Society. This tradition symbolizes the connection to the Michigan family that starts at that moment and will continue for the rest of their lives.
