On Chaitra 22, 2082, the Ministry of Education released a notice stating that schools must stop:

Taking admission fees every year
Charging advance fees before session starts
Collecting unnecessary fees under different headings

However, reports and receipts received from parents show a different reality.

In Dang, a school charged “annual fee” instead of admission fee, while in Parsa, another school collected money as “half-year fee.” Similarly, in Jhapa, a parent reported being charged “parent donation” of Rs. 10,000, replacing the earlier admission fee.

This clearly shows that while the name of the fee has changed, the burden on parents has actually increased.

Many parents also claim:

Schools are forcing them to pay extra charges
Some institutions are not even providing receipts
Parents are afraid to complain because schools threaten to remove their children
