MEP David Lega, Hillel Neuer, and Matthijs Schüssler discuss today's hearing on UNRWA by the Working Group on External Financial Instruments (WG EFIs) of the European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee where members of leftist EU parties first attempted to prevent the meeting from happening altogether and when that failed they forced the meeting to be hidden from public view.
UNRWA was invited to send a representative but declined to engage and several MEPs walked out before the meeting started. Some refuse to hear the truth but given that EU voters are paying more than 100 million Euros a year to UNRWA, taxpayers have a right to know how their funds are being used, and what they are funding. Forcing evidence to be hidden contradicts the basic democratic principles of transparency and accountability.
