Here is Zodiac's newest cleaner the T3. I was skeptical about it since the T5 was less then spectacular. But the T3 is a surprisingly good cleaner. It is based partly on the T5 and I think it has some of the good qualities of the G2 also. It is weighted very well so it climbs the walls and moves at an excellent speed (once the suction is adjusted properly with the flow gauge that came with the cleaner).

It reminds me of a mini G2 cleaner which I think is the best of the Zodiac bouncing suction side cleaners. I like the molded plastic as it feels very durable and I also like the fact that Zodiac kept things simple and this cleaner only has twelve parts. It operates with the one moving part concept, that being the new redesigned diaphragm.

As you can see in the video it picks up debris very well -not sure why the small rock stopped it but the big one didn't -- probably the angle of entry. You get the idea that it won't have any trouble in a pool that gets lots of debris. If it is pliable the diaphragm will pick it up.

It did get stuck in one area of my pool by the steps when I manually dragged it to that spot and let it try to get out. But it hasn't gone to that spot by itself. I say what was happening to case it to get stuck and the solution was simple. At the recommended suction of "3" it just would wedge itself in the corner and couldn't get free. I lowered it down to "2" and it worked it's way out of the corner no problem. So the key if your T3 gets stuck in a corner is to lower the suction and it will work it's way free. I left it set at "2" so it won't get stuck in the future. Adjusting the hoses and weights won't solve this, just lower the suction.

I think the cleaner is priced very well for what you get. I still wish Zodiac would include a threaded side port fitting with their cleaners. Most other cleaners come with it and to purchase one will cost you $20-$30. You can't hook it up to the threaded side port without it so if you don't have one you will need to purchase one. The only problem I have is that the new style hoses are limiting. If you want to spot vacuum your pool or spa you can't just attach a vacuum head to the hose. Also, the twist lock elbow doesn't fit into the side port without a locking device and even then it isn't secured as well as universal type hose. In the installation video I show this in more detail. The Good:
Picks up lots of different size debris:
It does a great job on the debris I gave it and gets a thumbs up in that department

Very well build and weighted down good:
I can't say enough about the hard plastic body. It just feels indestructible. It feels heavy too which is good for balance in the pool as it climbs the walls and moves around.

Moves around the pool really well:
This cleaner moves at a very good pace -- just like the great G2 cleaner. It will clean the entire pool in no time at all. It also goes up the walls with no problems.

Comes with durable new style locking hoses:
Okay, the hoses do have a good point. They look and feel very durable. But there was nothing really wrong with the old universal hoses.

Priced very well for what you get: The price point is excellent. It comes in around $300.00 and I have seen it on sale for $249.00

The Bad:
Only has 30 feet of hoses :
Two more hoses would have been nice. But it should work in most standard size pools.

No side port connector device included:
Again, a big gripe with Zodiac. Make a wall locking fitting for the side port and put it in the box.

New style hoses limit spot vacuuming:
Again, you can't really utilize these new hoses for manually vacuuming your pool or spa.

Footpad & Finned Disk one part together:
It looks like a good idea. But I don't think the parts on the old cleaner wear out at the same pace. It does save you one part by combing them together.

All in all I give this cleaner a thumbs up. Zodiac got it right again with the T3. They are back on track here and this one is a winner.
