The government has provided an update on the situation of oil and LPG in the country. Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma in the Ministry of Petroleum stated on Friday that there is no shortage of oil in India. States have been instructed to strictly crack down on black marketing. However, she acknowledged that due to the closure of the Hormuz Strait, LPG has become a matter of concern.

Sujata Sharma said that as far as crude oil is concerned, we have a refining capacity of 25.8 crore tons. We are self-sufficient in the production of petrol and diesel. Therefore, there is no need to import these fuels in India. All our refineries are currently operating at 100% capacity or more.
