This is a screen-capture video from a TuneLing for "Where The Wild Things Are" from the album "Gettin' Old", by Luke Combs.
This song is also available in a separate TuneLing video for ukulele!
Notes:
This song was written by Randy Montana and Dave Turnbull, and released in 2023 by Luke Combs. It's another fine example of modern Nashville songwriting craftsmanship - all the pieces fit together well, the lyric is coherent and relatable (though admittedly, a tear-jerker), and the production and performances are top-notch.
On the guitar, the capo makes the chords easy, using familiar shapes. The D/F# (pronounced "D over F-sharp") is a great chord to know, despite its unorthodox use of the thumb, which is used to not only play the lowest note, but to mute the adjacent (A or 5th) string. This allows the guitar player to double the bass line as it moves from G to F# to E.
(Don't let anyone tell you that you can't use your thumb - Jimi Hendrix used his teeth!)
Tear-jerker or not, this one is super-fun to play, so enjoy!
