Retro ads compilation (8)

Описание: My eighth collection of hand-picked ads that, if you grew up in the 80s and 90s (like I did), should stir some memories or otherwise mean something to you one way or another. Some made me laugh, some reminded me of stuff I either had or wanted, some impressed me in the way they were made (e.g. the animated ones), some had a familiar jingle, but, most of all, all of them brought back to me what it was like for youngsters watching telly back then.

So, what is there to look out for? Well, first and foremost, I'm pretty sure the Pink Windmill challenge is on again. On top of that, though, I think I also recognised one of the young stars of a much later CITV sitcom, so see if you can spot who I'm on about there. There's a nice promotion for the about-to-launch Nickelodeon channel, while I was taken by the double-retro nature of the ad marking the Milky Bar Kid's 30th anniversary. That was in 1991, which means that that celebration is now 30 years ago (at the time of writing), so the Milky Bar Kid has actually now been around for 60 years, and therefore if the original actor was, say, 10 at the time... It doesn't bear thinking about.

Elsewhere, check out Mario's voice in that Nintendo ad (better or worse than Chris Pratt?), and what exactly is a cyber razor cut, anyway? Either way, is the actor in the very first ad also the same guy in the Risk ad around the nine-minute mark, and is it Spudgun from Bottom? I'm not sure those England footballer dolls ever caught on, which is probably for the best, but those lunchboxes certainly did. Which one did you have? I think I had the Postman Pat one. Or maybe it was the Roland Rat one - I definitely had something of each (flask, mug, bowl, plate... not sure). SuperTed fans have an extra special extended treat waiting for them towards the end, and see that Dinosaurs magazine ad?
